Margarita Felices talks about writing and her novel Judgment of Souls 3: The Kiss at Dawn

ABOUT MARGARITA FELICES

Margarita Felices is a new paranormal writer who lives in Cardiff with her partner, three little mad dogs and works in television broadcasting. Inspiration for a lot of her writing comes from the remnants of the Victorian era in her hometown. When not writing, she strolls the rambling streets of Cardiff, taking pictures and researching settings and characters.

ABOUT JUDGMENT OF SOULS

JUDGEMENT OF SOULS 3: The Kiss at Dawn is the first of a Gothic horror trilogy where Rachel, a vampire, is thrust into a search for an ancient book with the potential to alter the existence of the world. On her search, where murder erupts, she becomes conflicted whether to side with her own kind or a mortal.

WHAT IS YOUR BIGGEST CHALLENGE AS A WRITER?

The research I do.  If I’m going to write about an area of France for example, I need to become familiar with that location.  To avoid the expense of actually getting on a plane and jetting off, I read a lot of reference books and spend a lot of time on the internet researching. I want my writing to sound authentic, like I’ve been there – so you can feel like you’re there as well. Part of the next novel will take place during the French Revolution so I’m researching what happened and spinning it into JOS2.

WHAT DO YOU ENJOY MOST ABOUT WRITING?

The adventure.  You get to share the lives of the people you create with others. You go to strange countries, you meet dashing men and you get to make friends with them…and sometimes enemies.

WHAT IS YOUR PREFERRED GENRE?

I love writing about the supernatural, vampires, demons, and the overall unknown. I also enjoy reading the same genres.

WHAT INSPIRES YOU AS A WRITER?

Other writers. I’m new to all of this and their experiences and advice are very valuable to me.

WHERE DO YOU SEE YOUR WRITING IN FIVE YEARS?

I hope to have completed the trilogy and have started to write stories about my two main characters, Rachel and Daniel. I’m interested in focusing on the occult, treasure hunts and archeological expeditions for some of my follow up work.  They will be vampire archeologists!

IS THERE ANYTHING YOU WILL NOT WRITE?

Zombies!  Sorry to all my Zombie friends and authors out there.
